Employment equity:
It is employment equity season. Employment Equity legislation has become increasingly demanding as of late. Non-Compliance with the law can lead to fines with a minimum implication of R1.5 million for first time offenders. This fine rapidly increases to R2.7 million, or 10% of annual turnover in certain cases.
The law requires designated employers to report
yearly on employment equity and to submit an employment equity plan. Manual submissions for the reporting period
has already closed, but designated employers has time until 15 January 2016 to
submit electronically.
Designated employers employ more than 50 people, or achieve an annual turnover above the turnover threshold.
